Our Art teacher, Mr.Torr, gave us an assignment. It is to find an artist and research about him or her. At first, I didn't have a clue of what I should do. Then, I saw some comic that explains about the famous artists. There were many artists but there was one artist with really strange paintings. It was Rene Magritte. I made my mind to research about Rene Magritte and his works. Here's the result!
WHO IS RENE MAGRITTE?
Magritte, René (1898-1967), Belgian Surrealist known for mysterious and witty paintings. Using a deliberately banal painting style, he sought to penetrate the boredom of everyday life to reach something fantastic. He used his camera in much the same way, making photographs that manage to shimmer mysteriously, appearing by turns extraordinarily dull and extraordinary. He frequently posed his friends and more often his wife Georgette in tableaux with the same deadpan approach as is characteristic of his paintings; other images, however, are more casual, apparently recording the doings of Magritte and his fellow Surrealists.
WORKS OF RENE MAGRITTE
The Lovers I, II
The Human Condition Series
La Reproduction Interdite
The Promenades of Euclid
The Treachery of Images
L'art de vivre
This is the photo that made me choose Rene Magritte over all of the other artists.
It was out of normal, but I heard that Magritte was a realist artist.
I always known Rene Magritte as a realist, but this does not look so realistic.
That's why I got interest in Magritte.
It was weird and interesting and I wanted to know more about an artist called Rene Magritte.
